About Japan’s Venture Academy 🌸

Japan’s Venture Academy (JVA) offers opportunities for university students to build entrepreneurial self efficacy through various formats, with the JVA fellowship at the core of the offering.

Interdisciplinary students from top universities in Tokyo can participate in the 3 months curriculum which is characterised by its hands-on nature. Projects are done by student teams with the support of startup coaches. By developing their own MVPs for real world problems, students strengthen their soft- and hard skill tool set.

Due to its student led culture, it is students who operate and shape the JVA organisation. This way, they can further their practical skillset through having real ownership and impact.

Lastly, students are offered regular networking and lecture events with leaders in the startup ecosystem. As a result, they gain a front-seat view on what it is like to be an entrepreneur and can learn from the valuable lessons they share.

Our values 💎

1. We are open-minded

We embrace the diversity of ideas as a key source of inspiration. Our curious minds reflect on problems from different angles and produce creative and suitable ways to solve them.

2. We are a team

We believe that it takes more than one to solve big problems our society faces. We constantly seek and offer help to grow as a team.

3. We don’t complain, we do

People who complain don’t get things done. We don’t complain. We do.

JVA’s mission 🌏

JVA exists out of a need for more ambitious founders in Japan to tackle challenging societal problems. To inspire the next generation of global founders, we aim to foster greater creativity and ambition through collaboration. Let’s take a look at what kinds of collaboration we strengthen:

Collaboration between Cultures

Each culture is different and new ideas arise when different life experiences collide. By bringing together Japanese students and international students through English as a shared language, we create an open space for exchange of thoughts.

Collaboration between disciplines

The collaboration between students of different disciplines is a prerequisite to start a successful venture. But the regular study environment at university does not provide a natural way for interdisciplinary knowledge exchange. Due to the hands-on nature of the projects we tackle at JVA, it is key to leverage the knowledge of different backgrounds and through that, students are better prepared for working in a setting which requires a broad range of skills including tech, business and design.
